HOT TIP LONDON 2012 TRIATHLON

CRAIG Mottram could win the triathlon gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

That's the opinion of the Victorian Institute of Sport triathlon head coach Jonathan Hall, after spending two months working with Australia's best middle distance runner.

Mottram's future is up in the air after he was shut out from competing at this year's Commonwealth Games.

Despite having a medical clearance explaining his absence from the weekend's selection trials in Perth, Athletics Australia selectors decided to not leave a spot open despite it being within their power.

But the snub could be a blessing for Hall, who has been blown away by Mottram's capabilities.

"This guy has got 'London triathlon' written all over him if he wants to do it," Hall said.

So after my visit with the Nautropath I've since discovered my Iron levels are rock bottom and my adrenal system is totally cooked. For now that means some R & R followed by a slow build back into it, back to basics. The nautropath along with some potions for the interim has made some adjustments to my diet to make sure this doesn't happen again. It has been a week now and I'm still feeling like I've done an ironman but at least the 'fog' is starting to clear from my head.
With all this new found time on my hands I've been trying to keep myself amused ( sane) without just sleeping all day. Last weekend end I went down to Sydney to watch the start of the ITU World Champs at the Opera House. It was awesome! Perfect day for racing on what has to be one of the best courses in the World. I was backing sentimental Sydney2000 Olympic Games Gold medalist Simon Whitfield to win back on the Olympic course but to his credit he came in 5th in a 5way battle in the final Km.
I have also been taking the time to enjoy the spoils that are the backyard (pictures above). So lucky to be living here & when training all the time I don't take the time to enjoy the beach. It has become a regular routine to wander done to the beach to revive and be.

Some times you just gota roll the dice

My blinged up Cervelo P3 with new ceramic Vision wheels and cranks.

On Sunday at Ironman Australia I rolled the dice but unfortunately they didn't roll in my favour. I DNF after another great swim I was placed perfectly in the 2nd group on the road that contained many of the contenders. As each kilometre passed on the bike I began to think I was actually going to get through the race, UNTIL about 90km on the bike when I body shut down.
Since Geelong 70.3 my training had not been good & was struggling to handle 1/2 the normal training load. With my new job that I started at the begining of the year I thought it was my body just getting used to a totally new routine and of the belief I was going to be back to normal any day. But nothing has changed so I'm booked in for some live blood analasis too see what is going on with my body.
So laying low for a couple of weeks while I get healthy again then map out a plan for the winter.
